On December 21, 2024, the postgraduate students of the 23rd Grade Music Art Management Major from the School of Design and Art at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, led by their supervisor Zhang Weigang, carried out a practical activity titled Research on Music Creative Cultural Industry. This practice took the large-scale live performance Songcheng Romance in Hangzhou as the research object, aiming to deeply understand the application and development of the music creative cultural industry in the construction of tourist destinations through on-site investigation and personal experience.

The large-scale song and dance performance Songcheng Romance is the soul of the Songcheng Scenic Area in Hangzhou. By using advanced sound, light, and electricity technologies and stage machinery, and with unexpected presentation methods, it vividly depicts the hardships of the ancient Liangzhu people, the magnificence of the Song imperial palace, the fierceness of the Yue Army, as well as the eternal love stories of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai and the White Snake and Xu Xian, bringing audiences both visual enjoyment and spiritual shock. As the cultural business card of Hangzhou, it attracts tourists from all over the world with its high-quality performance level and immersive sensory experience.

Songcheng Romance is divided into five parts: Prologue - The Light of Liangzhu, Song Palace Banquet Dance, Golden Spear and Iron Horse, Legends of the West Lake, and Charming Hangzhou. Each part presents content from different perspectives and time periods. This performance project, with the thousand-year history and culture of Hangzhou as the background, showcases the historical landscapes and traditional ethnic culture of the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279 AD) through various artistic means such as stage performances, special effects lighting, sound, and stage design. The performance tells a thrilling love story. The story is set in the Northern Song Dynasty, and the main characters include Wang Wenhua of the Eternal Love, Lady Zhao of Daughter Red, and Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty, Zhao Ji. The story shows the love across time and space between the Eternal Love and Lady Zhao, as well as their interactions with historical figures.

The performance project has multiple themed theaters and performance areas, including the large Bilang Lake Stage, Phantom Mountain, and Fairy Couple Romance Theater. During the performance, various performance forms are used, such as ancient costume martial arts, dance, and vocal music, to display the court culture, the elegance of literati, and the cultural integration of the Song Dynasty to the audience.

The special effects lighting and sound design of the performance project are also very exquisite, presenting a grand and beautiful effect in combination with the stage performance. In terms of stage design, multiple real-scene stages, revolving stages, and movable lights are used in the performance, making the entire performance process more vivid and three-dimensional.

This research and study tour not only enabled the students to understand the practical application of the music creative cultural industry in the construction of tourist destinations but also provided them with valuable practical experience and academic inspiration. The School of Design and Art at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics has always emphasized the combination of practical teaching and academic research, and this activity is a concrete manifestation of the discipline construction and development of the school. In the future, the school will continue to strengthen the intensity of practical teaching and contribute to the cultivation of more outstanding art management talents.
